About Nomeatpla
Welcome to my digital portfolio space. I'm on the market again, in search of a new professional opportunity and this is where I keep my reference bytes.
Maintaining this space helps keep my skills sharp and reminds me of what I love about my work.
Nomeatpla was the persona I wore upon entry into cyberspace. It was Halloween 1995 and I had an appointment to meet my sister in an AOL D&D chatroom.
Naively, I was surprised to find "teena" was taken, as was "teenawr" and even "twrobin" and I refused to be "teena579". I thought, “Oh yea? Let’s see if you have one of these!” as I typed in “nomeatpla” thinking “gnome at play”.
The Dark Prince and Lady Dawn were playing star crossed lovers to an accompaniment of various medieval persona. I took the role of gnome-at-play to the mischievous extreme.
-> The gnome threw another trick-or-treater on the fire and was thrown into a dungeon for her wickedness.
-> She offered a fine meal of roast tric-er-I mean mutton to the brave knight who would rescue her (we were all sick of candy by then).
-> The Dark Prince abandoned his Lady long enough to rescue the silly gnome and be rewarded with the fine meal. “But what”, he queries, “is this bit-o-plastic?”.
While I did not continue the role playing, nor gaming of any kind, my imagination was captured. I had found my muse and a medium for the artist within on the Internet. I was hooked.
Long live the gnome.
